Dear Parent/Guardian,
Your son/daughter has shown an interest in participating in the World Vision 30 Hour Famine. Participation means that your child will:
1.) Sign-up 30 Hour Famine sponsors and collect money to help those around the world who suffer from hunger, poverty, and lack of hope. 2.) Miss three main meals by fasting for 30 hours (Friday, March 14 & Saturday, March 15, 2003) 3.) Drink only water and juice during those 30 hours. 4.) Turn in Partcipant's Guide/Pledge book and money raised to their Famine leader during the Famine event.
If your child is not physically capable of fasting for 30 hours, he/she can still participate in a modified fast. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this option. I would appreciate your acknowledgement that you support his/her participation.
Thank You. RIKKI TAYLOR __________________________ Group Leader

Fasting is a physical benifit for most people. Exceptions are children 12 years of age, the elderly, diabetics, those pregnant or nursing, and others who have had recent surgeries or have specific medical problems. Most youth have no problem completing the 30 Hour Famine; however, modifcations can be made as necessary. If you have any health related questions about your child's participatioin in the Famine, please consult your doctor. Additional information from the 30 Hour Famine Medical Advisory Board reguarding fasting may be obtained by calling 1-800-7-FAMINE.
For more information on fasting, you can request a facts on Fasting sheet from your Famine Group leader. You can also obtain this sheet by calling 1-800-7-FAMINE or |
