A teen-age girl died after she was shot in front of her near East Side home last night(10.25.2000) as she came home from church, police said. Rebecca Ann Ramsay, 16, lived with her mother in the 5400 block of East Andrew Street, near South Craycroft Road and East 29th Street. She was a junior at the Academy of Tucson, a college preparatory school.Ramsay had just returned home and was at the front door when she was shot about 9:40 p.m., said Sgt. Judy Altieri, a Tucson police spokeswoman.Police have no suspects or motive, but said the shooting did not appear to be gang-related. Neighbors called 911 after hearing a shot, Altieri said. A neighbor said she heard a single shot followed by screaming. The neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said she and her mother went to the house and found Ramsay with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. She said the girl had a pulse and that her mother performed CPR before paramedics arrived. Another neighbor said Ramsay was carrying her purse, jacket and Bible when she was shot. Ramsay was taken to Tucson Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. A neighbor said Ramsay was returning from the East Side Assembly of God, 1930 S. Wilmot Road.Academy of Tucson Principal Bud Stewart described Ramsay as an excellent student liked by everyone at the school. "We're just devastated here. We loved Becky. Every principal wants to have a hundred Beckys," he said. About 130 students attend the school, at 2300 N. Tanque Verde Loop Road. Students learned of the shooting when they arrived for classes today. School officials informed the children at a special assembly, with a pastor, psychologists and counselors on hand. Officials did not cancel classes. Police asked that anyone with information about the shooting call 911 or 88-CRIME, an anonymous tipster line.

Yesterday was so great!!! We had some saved and many more baptized. the Spark went well with it's technological experience. Tonight on ABC 8pm-10pm Tucson time, the special 'In Search of Jesus' will air. It was pushed back from last week to today. I am taping it and please watch it if you can. I am very interested in watching for it's accuracy. Pray that it is done in a way that will uplift the cause of Christ. Remember no B-ball in the FLC tonight. FTF 8pm this WED. only. PRAISE GOD for Adam Smith!!! He blessed the ministry with the use of a piece of equipment worth many a thousand of dollars. It will be tight (06.25.2000)... Monday Night Men's Basketball in the F.L.C. will not happen June 26th or July 3rd because of preparation for & break down of Anniversary Sunday activities...
