Shout to the Lord, all the Earth, let us sing, Power and Majesty praise to the King! Mountains bow down and the sea will roar, at the sound of His Na-a-ame!Hehehe, just wanted to say hello! Have a GREAT day! God bless! (e-9/30/2003 5:04:11 PM) Your Voice of Praise has been heard.
Hello! I have been going to a Bible study on Thurseday nights w/another church... I don't think it's wrong but my parents think it's totally like... huge betrayal! I don't think so because it's getting me REALLY excited about getting into His word and really thinking about what Im reading. I understand church family is MUY importante! I totally agree! So... yeah, do you think it's wrong what Im doing? and.... btw, I loved your lesson! (e-9/22/2003 10:15:30 PM) Of course you want to be respectful and obedient to your parents. I agree with you and don't see it as a betrayal. It would be great to have a Bible study with TBT on Thursday nights. However, we don't have that so, power to you. There's not going to be a TBT section in heaven. Just one big section that knows the Son. We're all one body in Christ. I don't feel threatened or upset and I don't think anyone in our youth group would either. I'm sure God is thrilled you're excited about His Word no matter where you're studying it. We've done activities with other churches and I wish we'd do more. I used to do Bible studies with Campus Crusade and I watch all kinds of preachers on Sky Angel. We need the Word everyday. Remember to respect and obey your parents even when you disagree with them. To directly answer your question; no I don't think it's wrong. Thanks for the encouragement on the lesson. It's only the second time I've taught a lesson written primarily by someone else so I was nervous.
Hey friend and brother in Christ! Thank you for answering my last question, about the instruments. Now, not attacking, Im just wondering... what do you feel about those churches then? Like... do you have any thought about them? And... like, okay, Im talking about one specific church. They also don't have a specific... way of describing themselves, just as Christians. Why is there so much division amongst different kinds of Christians? Im doing Bible studies w/them on Thurseday nights and they really beleive so many things that we do.... we are very similar... but yeah.. the music instrument thing.. and their name... can't think of it right now... but anyhoo ... I hope you understand lol. Have a great day!!! (e-9/18/2003 5:56:30 PM) I'll address your question: "Why is there so much division amongst different kinds of Christians?". The answer is simply opinionated pride and we're not following the Supertones' advice "To love each other so much that we'd die before division." Christ prayed that we'd be unified because He knew how easy it would be for us to be split. John 17:20-21 NKJV 20 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me." There are major and minor differences. I've just finished reading Romans and I'll share a bit from there that really says it all: (I'd suggest reading the whole chapter for proper context): Romans 14:10-21 NKJV 10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written: "As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God."12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother's way.14 I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.19 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. 21 It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak." Clearly the ban on instruments is not Biblical but also, not major. If they don't like instruments that's fine. I won't insist they play instruments and would not play one in their presence. They have that freedom in Christ and I'll not judge them for living in that freedom. I would object to them telling me that I couldn't play or use an instrument and gently and respectfully show in the Bible why. But I don't think that would be enough to cause a division between them and I. Don't get me wrong. There are many things you just can't compromise on. Stand strong on the important stuff. Know why it's important and be able to share from the Bible why it's important. Always strive for unity when ever possible. Ask God what to do. He'll never steer you wrong. Thanks for your question. I hope that helps a little.
Do you know why some churches belive playing instruments is wrong? To me, that just seems weird, doesn't the Bible mention playing instruments to honor God? (09/12/2003 11:56:29 PM) Yeah, that point of view is completely un-Biblical. 2 Chronicles 5:13 NKJV "indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: "For He is good, For His mercy endures forever," that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, So God's presence in the Temple was preceded by instruments playing. Obviously God does not object to playing instruments. In fact, God encourages it: Psalm 150:4 NKJV "Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!"
