Someone needs to launch an investigation. Contact the FBI, the CIA, the PTA, and raise the terror alert status. The Matrix Reloaded is stealing a lot of money and getting away with it. In my opinion the reviews on from Christian film critics on Christianitytoday.com seem to be accurate about the movie. In any case the majority of people I talked to about the movie didn't like it... and this is our hope for a great movie this summer :( (e-5/23/2003 1:31:55 PM) Yeah, I'll get my friends in the AARP to check it out. Sorry it was so disappointing.
I wanted to get your opinion on Bruce Almighty. I really have no interest in watching the movie. But I noticed other Christians have no problem seeing it. Basically it stars Jim Carey and he gets to have God's powers for an X amount of time or something. Based on the previews I think it looks bad. But that's just what I think, others can't wait to watch it. Sometimes we want to know God's plan for our lives right away or feel our way is better, but playing God is no job for a human. Maybe that's the point the movie is trying to make. I don't know all the details, but I'm in no hurry to watch it. (e-5/11/03 1:10:03 AM) I have only heard a little about this movie. I have only seen a preview and read a little except in CCM Magazine. As Christians we have to be very careful what we watch. Entertainment is an often used vehicle of the enemy. I do not know enough about the movie to comment. I am sure your Christian friends would not mind a Spirit lead voicing of your Biblical based, nonjudgmental concerns. I am in no hurry to see the movie either. Hollywood rarely portrays God in an accurate and/or respectful way.
Thank you for answering the Baptist questing I had, and I learned a lot about Christians and what they claim to be! :) Thanks for helping everyone! See ya on Sunday! :) (e-5/10/03 12:02:54 PM) You are welcome.
What is Baptism all about? How many kinds of Christianity are there? And thanks for helping anser everyone's questions on here! And one more thing, for the group name, I was thinking One Flame? Kinda like it? okay, ttyl (e-5/5/2003 6:11:44 PM) Baptism is the first command to a new born again Christian. Baptism is an identification with Jesus. You are saying publicly you are a follower of Jesus Christ. You do not need to be baptized to be saved. Just like my wedding ring is symbolic of my marriage to my wife, it does not make me married to my wife. Baptism is our identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. TBT will have a Baptismal service on 05.11.2003. We have a great pamphlet on the subject of Baptism online, (composed by Pastor Dr. Louis W. Johnson several years ago). Click here to read it. If it fails to answer all your questions, feel free to Contact Us again. If by 'kinds of Christianity' you mean denominations, I would only be guessing at a 1,000 plus. 2 billion people on Earth align themselves with the title Christian. Roman Catholic, Protestant, or Eastern Orthodox are the 3 major branches of Christianity. Roman Catholics are the largest group of Christians. Messianic Jews could be considered Christians. Christ is just the Greek word for Messiah. Multiple denominations, schisms, fringe groups, etc., abound. For example Mormons consider themselves Christians. For reference our church is an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church. Baptists have many sub denominations and sects. That means we have no hierarchy structure outside our own church (we report to no one but God). We are traditional and conservative. We identify with the Baptist Tradition (dating back to the Anabaptists and the Protestant Reformation, also we are not ecumenical - in other words non-compromising). It is all very confusing and I do not claim to understand much of it at all. No wonder Jesus prayed for our unity (John 17:21). If by 'kinds of Christianity' you mean something else I can only guess you may mean: cold, lukewarm, and hot (Revelation 3:16). I'll submit your group name suggestion!
